Small Business Saturday, 2019

Small Business Saturday is the counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On Small Business Saturday, holiday shoppers are encouraged to patronize locally owned, independent, brick and mortar businesses rather than visiting big box retailers or making purchases via e-commerce. To further promote shopping at brick and mortar stores, in 2013 Sherman Alexie, asked fellow authors to “be a superhero for independent bookstores [and] spend an amazing day hand-selling books at local bookstores.”  Your locally run independent bookstores is more than just a store, it’s a community center passionate about bringing readers and writers together. On Saturday, November 30th  BookPeople of Moscow will host a book signing by local authors.

Be sure to stop by and purchase a book by your favorite author:  Not before. Not after. Not online.

Al Halsey

When most everyone fawned over prancing, sparkling vampires, Al toiled away writing about zombies. Fantasy zombies, western zombies, zombies and more zombies. To say that zombies are an obsession of his is an understatement. Very few zombie movies have escaped his cadaverous eye.

A lifelong resident of Lewiston, Idaho, Al graduated from Lewiston High School and Lewis-Clark State College. He spent the last 30 years working with children with emotional and behavioral problems and training other professionals to do the same.  In his free time Al trains in martial arts, tells his rescued cats to get off the counter, and consumes large quantities of Thai food unapologetically. Considered by some to be the neighborhood curmudgeon, he wears this title as a badge of honor.
