Great news WriMos and Rebels–NaNoWriMo is back! After two years of being sequestered at home, writing alone, NaNoWriMo has returned to hosting in-person write-ins and the Palouse Writers Guild is encouraging local writers to connect and share.
For those community members not familiar with the program, NaNoWriMo is the acronym for National Novel Writing Month. Founded in 1999 with just 21 participants, the NaNoWriMo movement has grown to including over a million writers nationwide. Writers celebrate by attempting to write an entire novel during the month of November.
During Write-ins, budding writers will receive the emotional support needed to see them through the end of the month. In addition, write-ins are designed to keep writers motivated by providing:
- Writer games
- NaNoWriMo swag
- Candy/snacks
NaNoWriMo rules state nothing can be written before November 1st, but extensive notes and prepping is encouraged. Check out the NaNo Prep 101 Website to develop an outline before writing starts. Also, The Novel Factory has a number of nifty worksheets to help budding writers organize their ideas before beginning their novel.
