Are you ready for some NaNoWriMo?
Join fellow writers at the Potlatch Public Library for a NaNoWriMo write-in every Friday in November! We’ll meet in the conference room for some distraction free writing. Bring snacks or whatever helps you focus.
The only Potlatch Football home game that will conflict with write-ins is November 1st. Just tell the ticket takers that you are attending an event at the library and you should be able to park free.
Small Business Saturday is the counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On Small Business Saturday, holiday shoppers are encouraged to patronize locally owned, independent, brick and mortar businesses rather than visiting big box retailers or making purchases via e-commerce. To further promote shopping at brick and mortar stores, in 2013 Sherman Alexie, asked fellow authors to “be a superhero for independent bookstores [and] spend an amazing day hand-selling books at local bookstores.” Your locally run independent bookstores is more than just a store, it’s a community center passionate about bringing readers and writers together. On Saturday, November 30th BookPeople of Moscow will host a book signing by local authors.
Be sure to stop by and purchase a book by your favorite author: Not before. Not after. Not online.
Join Jay Dearien every Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM to work on your NaNoWriMo projects. In addition to meeting for dedicated novel writing in November, this group continues meeting to edit their novels the other eleven months of the year.
To join use the #kenyories tag on our Discord server “Moscow-Lewiston.” (this tag apparently times out). The server is for NaNoWriMo, but I’ll keep it going year-round now because of the pandemic.

Book People of Moscow is hosting a celebration of the release of Buddy’s Levy’s newest book, Labyrinth of Ice: The Triumphant and Tragic Greely Polar Expedition, on Friday, Dec. 6, at 5pm. We’ll have a short reading and presentation from the author, Q&A time, and author signing, along with light refreshments and a no-host bar. Preorder your copy now from Book People, and get it signed by the author, whether or not you are able to join us for the party.
Labyrinth of Ice is based on the author’s exhaustive research, the incredible true story of the Greely Expedition, one of the most harrowing adventures in the annals of polar exploration.
“An armchair explorer’s dream―all the drama, all the fear, all the steadfastness that fans could want. Unexpectedly, Levy manages also to carve out important space in the narrative for Greely’s wife, Henrietta, who was key to the rescue. An invaluable addition to polar history.” ―Booklist
